What it means
What does the lane ends, merge sign mean in NSW?
On a black rimmed yellow rectangle, a short line on the left ends at a crossbar partway up, while two arrows on the right carry on to the top. That stopped line is the lane that finishes. If you are in it, you must give way to vehicles in the lane that carries on and merge into a gap. If you are in the continuing lane, expect someone to move across.
What to do
1
Check your mirrors and signal early if your lane is the one ending.
2
Match speed and find a gap in the continuing lane.
3
Let the other driver go first if you would be side by side.
