Cross double continuous lines only to get into or out of a road or driveway, never to pass.

What it means
Double continuous centre lines: in and out only: what is the rule?
Two solid white lines run side by side down the middle of the road, with a driveway leading to a building on the right. The plate-yellow car follows its yellow path straight across both lines into that driveway, a move you may make by the shortest route when it is safe. Below, a white car's attempt to pull out and pass is drawn faint and dashed under a red cross: overtaking here is banned.
What to do
1
Give way to oncoming traffic, then cross by the shortest path into the driveway.
2
Abandon a pass and drop back if double lines appear before you can finish.
3
When parking, leave at least 3 metres between your car and the lines.

Common questions
Can I turn right into my driveway over double white lines?
Yes. You may cross them by the shortest route to enter or leave a driveway or side street once it is safe.
Are you allowed to cross double lines to give a cyclist room?
Yes, if you can see far enough ahead and it is safe, so the cyclist gets the minimum passing gap.
