T-intersection ahead warning sign

Your road ends at a T-intersection ahead, so you must turn left or right.

Asked in general knowledgeShown in 2 practice questionsAdvisory: it warns, it does not command

What it means

What does the t-intersection ahead sign mean in NSW?

A bold T fills the yellow diamond: your road is the upright, and it meets a crossing road at the top. In plain terms the road you are on ends, and you will have to turn left or right. Many crashes here involve drivers who did not expect the end, often at night or over a crest. As the driver on the road that ends, you will usually give way to traffic on the through road.

What to do

  1. 1

Slow down and decide early which way you are turning.

  2. 2

Signal and move into position for the turn.

  3. 3

Give way to all traffic on the continuing road, from either side.

Common questions

Who gives way at a T-intersection with no signs?
Whoever is on the ending road waits for every vehicle on the through road, from both directions.
Does the T-intersection sign mean I must stop?
No. It warns that the road ends, and any stop or give way sign at the end sets what you must do.
