Sharp left curve warning sign

A sharp curve to the left is ahead, so slow down before it.

What it means

What does the sharp left curve sign mean in NSW?

The arrow runs straight up, then bends hard to the left with a big head on the end. It signals a corner tight enough that your current speed may be too fast, often hidden until you are close. Some have a yellow plate below showing a lower advisory speed. That figure is a guide for good conditions rather than a legal limit, yet it is a strong hint.

What to do

  1. 1

Do all your braking on the straight before the curve.

  2. 2

Keep left and look through the bend to where you are heading.

  3. 3

Use the advisory speed plate as a guide, and go lower in the wet.

Common questions

No, it is advisory, but it shows a sensible speed for that bend in good conditions.
When should you slow down for a sharp curve?
Before you reach it, so you can steer through without braking mid corner.
