Sharp right curve warning sign
A sharp curve to the right is ahead.
What it means
What does the sharp right curve sign mean in NSW?
Here the arrow rises then swings sharply right, mirroring the left curve sign. On a right hand bend the danger is drifting over the centre line into oncoming traffic, especially at night when you only see the corner in your headlights. A chevron board or an advisory speed plate often backs it up on country roads where the bend tightens quickly.
What to do
- 1
Slow down on the approach so the car is settled before you turn.
- 2
Hold your line near the left of your lane, away from the centre.
- 3
Expect oncoming drivers who may be cutting the corner.
Common questions
- What does an arrow bending right on a yellow sign mean?
- A sharp right hand curve is ahead, so slow down before it.
- Why do right hand bends catch drivers out at night?
- You can only see as far as your headlights, so the bend tightens before you expect it.
