One way sign

All traffic on this road travels in the direction of the arrow.

Road Rules 2014 (NSW) rule 98Asked in general knowledgeShown in one practice question

What it means

What does the one way sign mean in NSW?

A long black rectangle holds a white arrow with ONE WAY written along its shaft. It is mounted at the corner so you can read it before turning in, and the arrow shows the only direction vehicles may travel on that road. Turn in only when the arrow points the way you would be heading once you are on it, and expect every car inside to be travelling the same way as you.

What to do

  1. 1

Read the arrow before you turn in, not halfway round the corner.

  2. 2

To turn right off a one way road, move to its right side first.

  3. 3

You may park on either kerb, but always facing the way the arrow points.
