What it means

What does the no entry sign mean in NSW?

A solid red disc crossed by a wide white bar, with NO ENTRY written on the bar, shuts a road to traffic coming from your side. You will usually meet it at the exit end of a one way street, at the wrong end of a motorway ramp, or on a car park lane meant only for leaving. Everything past it flows towards you, so going in would put you head on with other drivers.

What to do

  1. 1

Do not turn or drive into the road the sign is facing you from.

  2. 2

Look for another street or a signed entrance to reach where you are going.

  3. 3

Check side streets for one way arrows so you spot a closed end early.
