STOPSTOP

Road scene · Intersection scenes

Stopped at a stop sign, give way to all three cars

Stop at the line, then let every car on the crossing road and the oncoming car go first.

Road Rules 2014 (NSW) rule 67Asked in general knowledgeShown in 3 practice questions

What it means

Stopped at a stop sign, give way to all three cars: what is the rule?

The plate-yellow car is stopped at a STOP sign and stop line, signalling to turn right. White cars approach on the through road from the left and the right, and a third white car facing it waits at its own stop sign to go straight ahead. The yellow path curves right through the middle. Everyone else here goes first: the cross traffic because of your sign, the oncoming car because you turn across it.

What to do

  1. 1

Stop completely at the line, even on an empty country road.

  2. 2

Give way to cars from both sides on the road you are crossing.

  3. 3

Let the oncoming car go straight through before you make your right turn.
